Who it’s for
All abilities welcome — no previous Nordic walking experience needed
Ideal if you’d like a calm, non-competitive approach to fitness
Suitable if you want to improve confidence on uneven ground
Perfect if you enjoy nature and want a weekly wellbeing rhythm

For the full 6-week course (Wednesdays 10am–11am).
What’s included
Expert instruction from Surrey Striders, small supportive group, progressive technique building, balance and coordination exercises, mindfulness and nature appreciation. Use of poles during session.
Optional extras
6-week pole loan for home practice: £20 + £50 refundable security deposit (returned when poles are brought back in good condition)
Purchase of own poles: £65
Coffee/tea afterwards: £4 at the Sanctuary

What to wear: comfortable layers + suitable outdoor footwear (ie sturdy trainers at least, if not walking shoes or boots)
Weather: sessions take place outdoors (dress for the season)

Q. Do I need to be fit already
A. No. The course is designed to be gentle and supportive for those new or returning to exercise. We build gradually over the six weeks and you’ll work towards a personal goal that suits you.
If you want a more intensive route to learning Nordic walking, you can join our 2 hour Learn To Nordic Walk sessions that happen every few months – these are designed for people with a base of fitness
Q. Do I need my own poles
A. No, poles are available to use during sessions. If you’d like to practise between weeks you can borrow poles for the duration of the course (£20 fee + £50 security deposit) or you can purchase your own poles for £65
Q. What size group will it be
A. From 2 up to 8 people. Small and supportive group
Q. What happens if I miss a week
A. Just turn up 15 mins early the following week for a recap of what you missed
